
Eva Fodor Conductor
EVA FODOR was born in 1979 in Satu-Mare, Romania and immigrated in 1988 with her familly to Israel. There, she studied conducting, oboe and composition at the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. As an oboist she played in various orchestras in Israel and was a member of the ensemble Israel Contemporary Players. International concert tours have led her to Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Russia and China. She continued her studies at the Music Academy in Karlsruhe, Germany, with Prof. Thomas Indermühle (Oboe) and with Prof. Péter Eötvös (Conducting), earning her diploma with distinction. She has participated in international master-classes with Pierre Boulez, Péter Eötvös, Zsolt Nagy and Peter Rundel, which provided her further impulses in conducting. She has won scholarships from the Israel-America Cultural Foundation, the Stibet-program of the DAAD, the L-Bank and was honoured with the Culture-Price of the city of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Eva Fodor´s focuses are connecting compositions from different music-eras and the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. She conducted the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Luzern Festival Academy Orchestra, North- Hungarian Symphony Orchestra Miskolc, Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, SWR Vocal-Ensemble Stuttgart, Ensemble Ascolta Stuttgart, Ensemble New Babylon Bremen, Ensemble MusikFabrik Cologne, Symphony Orchestra of the Folkwang University Essen, Ensemble Folkwang Modern, Ensemble Oh-Ton, Ensemble E-MEX Düsseldorf, Ensemble Hörsinn Münster, Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra and Ensemble Schola Heidelberg.
She was guest conductor at: Theater Basel, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Glocke Bremen, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Wagenhalle Stuttgart, Philharmonie Essen, Zollverein Essen, Theater Düsseldorf, Theater Münster, Hebelhalle Heidelberg, at the Music Academies in Karlsruhe, Hannover, Stuttgart and Münster, and at the Center for Modern Arts & Media ZKM Karlsruhe.
She has conducted many World-Premiéres and is working with contemporary composers, such as: Wolfgang Rihm, N. A. Huber, Günter Steinke, Younghi Pagh-Paan, Péter Eötvös, Jörg Widmann, Enno Poppe, Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Márton Illés, Vito Zuraj, Birke Bertelsmeier, Zeynep Gedizlioglou, Elnaz Seyedi, Andreas Paparousos, Tania León, Jamilia Jazylbekova, Tamon Yashima, Ansgar Beste, Luís Antunes Pena, Michael Edwards, Dániel Péter Biró and Nicolas Mondon.
Eva Fodor´s performing as a conductor has been accompanied by a wide-ranging engagement as an academic lecturer for Conducting, among others at the Music Academy in Karlsruhe, the Music Academy HMDK in Stuttgart and the University of Arts Folkwang in Essen, Germany.
